New Member Luncheon
February 25th, 2001
St. Luke’s held it’s Annual New Member Luncheon to recognize those members who have formally joined the Parish during the past year.
Our new members are as follows:

George Poulos (wife Ruth)
Chris & Bob Zubenko (sons Joshua & Daniel)
At the end of Liturgy Father Andrew distibuted icons to the new members. Afterwards lunch and fellowship was enjoyed by all in the church basement.
Forgiveness Vespers
February 25th, 2001
At forgiveness Sunday Vespers we begin Great Lent with the prayer of St. Ephraim the Syrian. After the prayer all parishioners are invited all to ask each other for forgiveness and make a full prostration ending with a mutual kiss on the cheek. Those who attended were exhausted after doing so many prostrations.
The Prayer of St. Ephraim
O Lord and Master of my life, take from me the spirit of laziness, despair, lust of power, and idle talk (All make a prostration). But give, rather, the spirit of chastity, humility, patience and love to your servant (All make a prostration). O Lord and King, grant me to see my own transgressions and not to judge my brother, for blessed are You unto the ages of ages. Amen (All make a prostration).
