Prayer Requests

God told Isaiah (Is. 56:7) "For my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations." The parishioners of St. Luke's Orthodox Church along with Father Paul Jannakos, have come to together in an effort to become a praying church. Every week a list with the names of those who are asking for prayers is distributed in the church or sent out on e-mail. Then everyone in the group prays on their own time for at least two weeks. Father Paul also mentions their names during liturgy for two consecutive Sundays. Every request is confidential and treated with respect. We can't guarantee prayers will be answered in the manner we think we want, or that a miracle will suddenly occur, but through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ many prayers have been answered. But we are serious about our prayer life and can promise that we will pray. Just knowing that I'm told, can be a source of unimaginable strength for those in need. Our Church Fathers tell us that, " A theologian is one who prays, and one who prays is a theologian."
