November
Stewardship Sunday
On Stewardship Sunday, our parishioners turn in pledge cards that state their intended contribution to the church for the coming year. Here Father Paul prays over the pledges. The pledge cards will be used by the parish council to prepare a reasonable budget for the parish.
Garden Center Visit For November
Our visit started with Fr. Paul telling the story of Lazarus and the Rich Man. Both men had very different fates. The Rich Man, because of his love of money and his neglect of showing compassion for the poor, did not share in the ever lasting life with Jesus. But, when the poor man died, the angels carried him to heaven where he suffered no more.
Fr. Paul said just like a farmer must plant his seeds deep in good soil to reap a good crop, so we should plant our faith deep in our heart and take care not to have weeds, which are idols.
All the residents held their candles as we prayed the Lord’s Prayer. Jimmy, our newest resident in the red shirt, held his candle high as a bright smile never left his face.
Our visit ended with snacks, conversation and Janet’s annual Thanksgiving poem, “Gobble Gobble”.
