Monday, January 27th, 2003 - Prayer of the Week for Christian Unity

Let us Pray to the Lord. Lord have Mercy.

Almighty God, we lift our hearts to You in praise and thanksgiving. Out of love, You created the heavens and the earth, and breathed life into this world. Inspire us to treasure this gift in all our relationships with You, with each other, and all of creation.

Out of love, You gave us your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ, as Light for our world. Ignite in us the passion of disciples and the courage to strive for justice and peace.

By the power of Your love, heal all divisions and strengthen us to do your will. Lead us, with all our brothers and sisters, toward communion in faith, and in love so that, united in one body, and one spirit, we may together witness to the perfect unity of Your love.

We pray in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

Thursday, January 23th, 2003 - Prayer of the Week on the Sanctity of Life

Let us Pray to the Lord. Lord have Mercy.

O Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son, Who are in the bosom of the Father, True God, source of life and immortality, Light of Light, Who came into the world to enlighten it: You were pleased to be conceived in the womb of the Virgin Mary for the salvation of our souls by the power of Your All-Holy Spirit. O Master, Who came that we might have life more abundantly, we ask You to enlighten the minds and hearts of those blinded to the truth that life begins at conception and that the unborn in the womb are already adorned with Your image and likeness; enable us to guard, cherish, and protect the lives of all those who are unable to care for themselves. For You are the Bestower of Life, bringing each person from non-being into being, sealing each person with divine and infinite love. Be merciful, O Lord, to those who, through ignorance or willfulness, affront Your divine goodness and providence through the evil act of abortion. May they, and all of us, come to the life of Your Truth and glorify You, the Giver of Life, together with Your Father, and Your All-Holy and Life-giving Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Monday January 13th, 2003 - Prayer of the Week for Ordination of Readers

Let us Pray to the Lord. Lord have Mercy.

O Lord almighty elect this your servant, and sanctify him; and enable him with wisdom, and understanding, to exercise the study and reading of Your divine words, preserving him in a blameless life. Through the mercies and bounties and love towards mankind of Your Only-begotton Son, with whom also You are blessed, together with Your all-holy, and good and life-giving Spirit, now, and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen

Thursday January 9th, 2003 - Prayer of the Week for Blessing a Home

Let us Pray to the Lord. Lord have Mercy.

O Master, Lord our God, who dwells on high and has regard for the humble; who blest the housed of Laban at the entrance of Jacob. and the house of Potiphar by the coming of Joseph, who blest the house of Abinadad with the bringing in of the Ark; and in the days of the advent of Christ our God granted salvation to the house of Zacchaeus: As the same Lord, bless also this house, and encompass with awe those who live here, and preserve them unharmed from adversaries, sending down on them Your benediction from the heights of Your holy habitation. Bless and increase all good things in this house for Yours it is to show mercy and save us, O our God, and to Your we do give glory to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.
