For further enlightenment into what Moon really teaches, the following quotations are being included. These quotations are from speeches which Moon has given to his followers:

"You know, for thirty years our movement has been delayed by the initial rejection I received when I first declared this message. Koreans deserve hell, so that nation must suffer. Christians all over the world deserve to decline, because they did not accept me." Master Speaks.

"We are tigers to shake the whole world. We are great personages to change the whole world. Our state is the whole world. The leading nation of the whole world is America and we must shake America first. Master Speaks.

"Until our mission with the Christian church is over, we must quote the Bible and use it to explain the Divine Principle. After we receive the inheritance of the Christian, we will be free to teach without the Bible." Master Speaks.

"I am a thinker. I am your brain."Master Speaks.

The material presented here on Moon is but a glimpse into the queer world of a man who yearns for power. Moon seeks political power. He has chosen to pursue this power through the use of religion. Moon has created a group which not only propagates preposterous heresies, but which also constitutes a very real threat to the freedom of thought of the individual.

The sharp contrast in Moon’s system is clearly seen in his rabid denunciation of communism - while he concurrently leads a very effective dictatorial organization. He is possessed with the illusion that someday all religions will be under his authority.

As Orthodox, we have never, and will never, recognize any one person as the head of the Church, except for Christ Himself. We follow the teachings handed down to us through the ages, The teachings’ which Jesus Christ told us to guard.

We condemn Moon’s teachings and pray that those deceived by him will find their way to repentance.

We think of the words of St. Paul and commend those who would follow Moon to read them: "Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them. For such men are slaves not of our Lord Jesus Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting." Romans 16:17,18.

CONCLUSION

The intent of this pamphlet, as stated previously, is to give the Orthodox reader a brief introduction to the major cults which are operating today. It is hoped that the Orthodox reader will find this publication useful as a quick reference guide as to the major differences between the faith which Christ taught and the false teachings of the cults.

The cults mentioned in this pamphlet are not Christian. They teach doctrines which distort the Truth of Christ. There are many other cults which are also having an impact on our society which were not covered in this work. The fact that many other groups were not listed in our look at certain groups does not mean that they are not cults. Among the various groups not covered, but which are still nonetheless considered cults, are the following groups:

  • 1. Christian Science
  • 2. The Way International
  • 3. Transcendental Meditation
  • 4. Divine Light Mission
  • 5. Scientology
  • 6. The Children of God
  • 7. Worldwide Church of God (Herbert Armstrong)
  • 8. Unity
  • Jesus' Resurrection Acheived Only Spiritual Salvation

    Moon

"Jesus could not accomplish the purpose of the providence of physical salvation because his body was invaded by Satan." Divine Principle.

"Salvation through redemption by the cross is spiritual only." Divine Principle

"Thus, Christ must come again on the earth to accomplish the purpose of the providence of the physical, as well as the spiritual salvation, by redeeming the original sin which has not been liquidated even through the cross.." Divine Principle.

    Orthodox Doctrine

"For it was the Father's good pleasure for all the fulness to dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven...He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body." Colossians 1:19,20 and 22.

"For to this end Christ died and lived agian, that He might be Lord both of the dead and of the living." Romans 14:9.

"Nevertheless, our salvation is not a phantasm, nor does it pertain to the body only; but truly, the salvation of the whole man, soul and body alike, has been accomplished in the Word Himself." Sy Athanasious, 370-371 A.D.

"...for there is no stain where God is and whence salvation comes, whole man and at the same time God also, on behalf of the whole of suffering man, so that He might bestow salvation on the whole of you..." St. Gregory Nazainzus, 381 A.D.

Moon Will Complete What Jesus Could Not Do

    Moon

"By my mission, I fulfill the mission of Jesus and Moses." Master Speaks

"I have inheritied the misssion and the work, and succeed Jesus in this work. I am fulfilling what Jesus left undone." Master Speaks.

"I have paid a great amount of indemnity, and because of this I have the right to forgive another's sin." Master Speaks.

    Orthodox Doctrine

"And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12.

"And when you were dead in your transgressions...He made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our transgressions." Colossians 22:13.

"We have been free from punishment, we have put off all wickedness, and we have been reborn from above, and we have risen again, with the old man buried, and we have been redeemed, and we have been sanctified, and we have been given adoption into sonship, and we have been justified, and we have been made brothers of the Only-begotten, and we have been constituted joint heirs and concorporeal with Him and have been perfected in His Flesh, and have been unitied to Him as a body to its head...Christ paid out much more than the debt we owed, as much more as the boundless sea exceeds a little drop..." St. John Chrysostom, 391 A.D.

"The Lord alone is able to have mercy. He alone, who bore our sins, who grieved for us, and whom God delivered up for our sins, is able to grant pardon for the sins which have been committted against Him..." St Cyprian of Carthage, 251 A.D.
