Monday January 26th, 2009 - Prayer of the Week on Sanctity of Life.
Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have Mercy
O Christ our God, You are the One Who both gives and wills the protection of all
life. By word and by deed, You have taught us to treat all life as sacred, with the utmost care
and compassion for every human being, of every race, nation and faith, of every walk and way of
life, those born and unborn alike. Seeking to fulfill this teaching as Your followers, we turn to
You in fervent prayer on this "Sanctity of Life Sunday." O God, Who knows each of us from our
mother's womb, protect the fragile lives of our unborn little brothers and sisters, granting
blessed repose to those whose tiny lives were terminated, as well as repentance and forgiveness
to those who have participated in their termination. We pray in the name of the Father Son and
Holy Spirit. Amen.
Friday January 23rd, 2009 - Prayer of the Week on Luke 18: 35-42.
Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have Mercy
O Lord You recognized the faith of the blind man when he call out to you: "Son
of David have mercy on me". We pray that You will recognize our faith when we say "Lord have
Mercy". As You healed him of His physical blindness so come to us and heal us of our spiritual
blindness so we can believe in You as our savior and redeemer for You came to forgive us of our
sins. We pray in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit Amen.
Thursday January 15th, 2009 - Prayer of the Week on the blessing Water for Theophany.
Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have Mercy
O Lord impart unto this water the grace of redemption, the blessing of Jordan.
Make it a fountain of immortality, a gift of sanctification, a remission of sins, a healing of
infirmities, a destruction of demons; unapproachable by hostile powers, filled with angelic power.
And may it be for all those who shall draw it, and shall partake of it, the purification of their
souls and bodies, the healing of their passions, the sanctification of their houses, and for every
useful purpose. Amen.
Thursday January 7th, 2009 - Prayer of the Week on a children's sermon.
Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have Mercy
O Lord You were baptized for the remission of our sins and for our salvation.
During the coming year help us to overcome our bad habits and guide us so we make and strengthen
our good habits like coming to church regularly and on time, helping the poor and being obedient
to those who are placed over us as our spiritual directors and moral teachers. Amen.
Thursday January 1st, 2009 - Prayer of the Week on the Sunday after the Nativity.
Christ is Born! Glorify Him! Happy New year!
Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have Mercy
O Lord Your coming has brought salvation into the world for You have saved
Your people from their sins. By Your incarnation You united the material world with Your
divinity. As the star showed the Magi where you were born so may we be enlightened so we to
can find you. May we develop the faith of Joseph your earthly father and the ascetic life which
You established during Your sojourn in Egypt. We pray in the name of the Father, Son and Holy
Spirit Amen.
