Thursday February 23th, 2006 - Prayer of the Week on Luke 15: 11-32 (Prodigal Son)
Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have mercy
O Lord You are our compassionate Father. You forgive those who truly
repent. You stand waiting for our return and when we do You run to us. We have forgotten
Your Glory and have squandered all You have given us. We have sinned O Lord.
We ask You to forgive us and receive us back as one of Your lost children. We pray
in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
Thursday February 13th, 2006 - Prayer of the Week on Luke 19: 1-10
Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have mercy
O Lord you came to save sinners of whom we are all first. You accepted
the offering of the Publican because he was humble. As we begin this Lenten season, we
pray that we are able to mean what we pray, so we will avoid the pride of the Pharisee and
be justified so that our fasting and prayer will be accepted as precious treasures in Your
Kingdom. We pray in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Thursday February 9th, 2006 - Prayer of the Week on Luke 19: 1-10
Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have mercy
O Lord You love us all equally. You do not see our physical
deficiencies as handicaps but rather as obstacles to overcome. Your servant Zacchaeus
used his handicap to draw near to You. May we acquire his boldness to use our handicaps
to Your glory. As You rewarded him with Your presence, we pray that You will reward us
as we overcome our spiritual blindness and climb the tree of life. We pray in the name
of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen
Thursday February 2nd, 2006 - Prayer of the Week on 1 Tim 1:12-17
Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have mercy
O Lord You have given us a variety of gifts so we could use them for
Your Glory. We give thanks as did St. Paul for being "put into the ministry." We are
unworthy because we love money, pleasure and success more than we love You. We ask for
forgiveness for we know that You love us and are abundantly merciful. Help us to be
faithful and believe in You so we can receive everlasting life in Your Eternal Kingdom.
For to you belong all glory, honor and worship forever. Amen.
