Tuesday September 27th, 2005 - Prayer of the Week on on Luke 5:1 -11
Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have mercy
O Lord You called Your apostles to be fishers of men. They were
obedient to Your call when they saw you perform the miracle of the great catch.
May we be obedient so we can follow in their foot steps and maintain the
faith which they gave to us. Help us to guard against divisions and become fishers
of people so that through our ministries we will have a miraculous catch.
We pray in the name of the Father, Son And Holy Spirit Amen.
Thursday September 22nd, 2005 - Prayer of the Week on on Hurricane Rita - Matt. 8 23 - 25
Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have mercy
O Lord, Your apostles marveled when You quelled the storm just by Your
word. You strengthened their faith when they saw that You had the power over the wind, the
rain and the turbulent sea. Today we are facing a tremendous storm which may add to the
suffering and burden of the last storm. We humbly pray that you will weaken this storm so
that the damage will be at a minimum and lives will be spared. We know because of our
sinful ways we deserve your righteous chastisement. We repent and ask for forgiveness
for You are the Lord of the land and the sea and all they contain, for it is to You that
we ascribe Glory to the Father, Son and Holy. Amen.
Bible Text - Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him.
And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the
waves. But He was asleep. Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, Lord,
save us! We are perishing! But He said to them, Why are you fearful, O you of little
faith? Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.
So the men marveled, saying, Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey
Him?
Bible Question - WDo you think our need for repentance can be related
to the natural phenomenon like a hurricane or is there no relationship? Explain.
