Wednesday August 24th, 2005 - Prayer of the Week on Matt.14: 22-33
Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have mercy
O Lord You have the power over life and death and over nature. You can
quell the storms of life. We are weak in our faith like Apostle Peter wanting proof of
Your power. We are drifting in the troubled sea of life. We pray that you will take hold
of us and return us to the protection or Your Holy Church where we can find healing and
salvation. We pray in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit Amen.
Bible Text - And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they
were troubled, saying, It is a ghost! And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus
spoke to them, saying, Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid. And Peter answered
Him and said, Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water. So He said,
Come. And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to
Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to
sink he cried out, saying, Lord, save me!
Bible Question - When are you most tempted to take your eyes off the
Lord and to sink in doubt?
Monday August 8th, 2005 - Prayer of the Week - A Prayer For Missions
Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have mercy
O God of Truth and Love, hear our prayer for those who do not know You,
that they may come to a saving knowledge of the Truth, and that Your Name may be praised
among all the peoples of the world. Sustain, inspire, and enlighten the missionaries who
bring them the Gospel. Grant vigor to wavering faith and sustain our faith when it is
fragile. Continually renew missionary zeal in our souls and throughout Your Church, and
raise up new missionaries who will follow You to the ends of the earth. Make us witnesses
to Your goodness--full of love, full of strength, and full of faith for Your glory and
the salvation of the entire world, forasmuch as You are the God of salvation, and to You
we send up glory: to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit; now and ever, and
unto ages of ages. Amen
Bible Text - And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority
has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you
always, even to the end of the age. Amen.
Bible Question - How can you be more involved in making disciples and
fulfilling the Great Commission?
Wednesday August 3rd, 2005 - Prayer of the Week on John 19: 25-28
Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have mercy
O Lord You gave us Your Mother as an example of the way we should live.
She heard Your word from the time the angel appeared to her until after Your death on the
cross. She kept Your word and presents it to us. As we enter this time of the Fast, help
us to live like her and crucify our flesh so we do not betray You but remain Your loyal
followers, spreading the Gospel to the ends of the world. We pray in the name of the
Father, Son and Holy Spirit Amen.
Bible Text - Now there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother, and His
mothers sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus therefore saw His
mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, Woman, behold
your son! Then He said to the disciple, Behold your mother! And from that hour that
disciple took her to his own home. John 19: 25 -28
Bible Question - What do you think Christ meant by saying to his
mother "behold your son" and them telling Apostle John that she would now be his mother
when John all ready had a natural mother?
