Monday February 23rd, 2004 - Prayer of the Week on Rom. 13:13 - 14:4
Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have mercy!
O Lord help us to begin the fast with joy and prepare ourselves for
spiritual efforts. Help us to cleanse our soul and our flesh abstaining from every sin as
we abstain from food. May we rejoice in virtues of the spirit while fulfilling them in
love so that by seeing the passion of Christ our God we will rejoice in the spirit at the
Holy Pascha. We pray in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit Amen.
Wednesday February 18th, 2004 - Prayer of the Week on the Last Judgement - Matt. 25: 31-46
Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have mercy!
O Lord You have warned us about the terrible day of judgment when you
come with Your glory. The sun will darken and the earth will quake. Armies of angels will
fill the sky. All things with tremble as You call all to account for their deeds. We pray
that we will be prepared. This Lenten season is our time to watch, pray and repent for we
have fallen short of feeding the hungry, clothing the naked and visiting those sick and in
prison. Help us to do these good works for we want to be called the sheep on Your right
hand who will inherit the Kingdom prepared for us from the foundation of the world. We
pray in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit Amen.
Tuesday February 10th, 2004 - Prayer of the Week on the Prodigal Son, Luke 15:11-32
Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have mercy!
O Lord You are a welcoming father who loves us beyond all earthly love.
You are patient with us and suffer long. We have all become prodigal sons who have left
Your house and wasted our inheritance. We have wallowed in the sins of lust in thought,
word and action. We have been gluttonous and eaten foods which are killing us. We drink
substances which lead to our spiritual and physical death. We have grieved Your Holy Spirit
by the way we live. Help us during this Lenten season to repent and return to Your house.
We beg You to accept us for we will use the robe of righteousness to live differently,
your ring as a sign or our return and with Your sandals we will walk with You proclaiming
the gospel to the end of the age. We pray in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit
Amen.
