Tuesday April 22nd, 2003 - Prayer of the Week for Great and Holy Tuesday.
Verse from the Matins of Holy Tuesday.
Why are you idle, my wretched soul? What useless cares cause you to be
lost in dreams? Why busy yourself with things that pass away? The last hour is at hand,
and we shall be parted from all earthly things. Therefore, while there is yet time, rouse
yourself and cry: I have sinned before You, my Savior. Do not cut me off like the barren
fig tree. In Your compassion, O Christ, take pity on me who call out with fear.
Tuesday April 15th, 2003 - Prayer of the Week on Mark 10: 32 - 45.
Let us Pray to the Lord. Lord have Mercy.
O Lord You accepted suffering and death voluntarily. Your death and
resurrection transformed the dead works of the apostles into living works. O Lord remind
us always to question our motives so that our living works will not be transformed into
dead works by our vanity. Show us Your salvation so that the works we do will increase
our faith and be for Your glory. We pray in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit
Amen.
Wednesday April 9th, 2003 - Prayer of the Week on Mark 9: 23-29.
Let us Pray to the Lord. Lord have Mercy.
O Lord You are the source of faith. You revealed Your power to the
apostles who lost their ability to heal because of their lack of faith. You taught us that
some healings require great faith which can only be attained through prayer and fasting.
We pray that we will grow in faith today as we pray and learn together.
May we overcome any form of apostasy by adhering to the faith You delivered to Your
apostles. Help us not to back slide as did the apostles so that as we confront life's
problems with faith. Give us, we beg You, the faith of a mustard seed so that we can move
mountains. We pray in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit Amen.
