Annual Report January 2014
By Mark Olson
Currently we have 16 readers in rotation with two alternates for emergencies. If you would like to be a reader see me for training. This last Nativity season we changed the chanting between Matins and the Sunday Liturgy during fast periods to be the "Prayers before Communion" which are more penitential than the Third Hour which is done during non-fasting periods. For this coming year we are going to recruit readers from the youth and other volunteers to chant the “Prayers after Communion." During Lent we may chant those prayers prior to going forward to reverence the cross and receive Father's blessing. Those who chant the prayers after Communion, if not drawn from the regular readers, may be able to provide members to move into the normal readers rotation if they get enough experience with these after service prayers.
