Property Team Annual Report January 2005
Team Leader - Mike Bauml
This year was spent working out the kinks from the new construction and
finishing up some of the projects that we were unable to finish during the construction
due to lack of funds. I would like to thank all those on the property teams for all their
efforts. In addition to putting up with our meetings, they worked hard mentally and
physically. They were supportive and many times helped out financially as well when we
were short of money. I would also like to thank the parish for their support and their
vote to allow us to finish the remodeling of the choir loft and the clergy area. In
addition to the money from the tower income, the parish donated approximately 10,000.00
from their pockets for the projects. We were able to finish the remodel for approximately
3,000 less than was projected. In the coming year the property team is once again forced
to deal with a bare bones budget. What has been allotted in the proposed budget is the
bare minimum needed to run the parish. We will do the best we can to continue to work on
the areas that need attention and hope that once again the parish will respond when we
need to ask for help again.
I would also like to thank all those who came out and helped during or
two clean ups during the year. A special thanks also goes out to Scott Miller who has
ending up being our resident electrician and has given both his time and supplies in this
area.
TEAM PROJECTS COMPLETED
Remodel of the choir room area.
Remodel of the old kitchen area.
Back up sump pump installed
Stairwell to choir loft finished and carpeted.
Stained glass windows installed in bell tower.
Memorial brick garden installed.(This is to be a continuing project as more bricks are added, we hope to eventually turn this into a walkway around the entire building for processions.
A new electric furnace was installed in the old building and tied into the new electrical system. This allowed us to remove the old propane tank behind the building and should save us additional money as we petitioned for and received a new electrical rate from Com Ed.
Touch up painting was done in many areas and quality paint was done in the classroom areas.
Microphone and speaker system was installed for use during Liturgy and to hear the bells in the church properly. This system will be expanded on in the future.
New metering system for the electric installed by Apollo Electric.
FUTURE TEAM PROJECTS:
The following list of projects are under consideration and if and when they get done will depend in large part on the availability of funds. If you have expertise and can help with any of these or if one of them is something you can contribute funds to; please let use know.
Waterproofing of the old basement and placement of a new tile floor matching the new basement tile.
Removal of the moldy walls in the old basement and replacing them and repainting.
Purchase of 3 clean air machines to remove mold from the air for the old basement, the new basement and the church area.
A roll down window will be installed in kitchen window.
Carpeting and painting the new stairways
New candle stand for the entrance area: This is currently being researched.
Shutters for the secretary room window.
Settle issue of additional parking
Refinish and stripe parking lot
Heater for Father Andrew's office: This allows for us to not heat the rest of the
building during the week to save money.
Beautify remaining old walls on east and west sides of the building
New church sign
New fence and gates on street side of property.
Rekey locks and keyless entry system.

ISSUES TO BE RESOLVED:
New electric service for separate metering of heating and cooling: Resolved
Parking lot ownership: We have so far been frustrated on every front in our efforts to get the rest of the parking lot paved. Despite the efforts of several individuals we have gained no ground. Currently Father Andrew is in touch with someone in the forest preserve to at least get a snow fence installed along the back of the property to stop the sledders and also having the forest preserve pave their section of the lot is being discussed.
Basement Mold: The new humidifier being placed and concerned to the sump pump seems to be helping keep the moisture down. 3 clean air machines will be purchased to remove mold in the air from the basements and church areas.
White patches on the bricks: After numerous consultations including a final one from the brick manufacturer, this issued was finally resolved with the conclusion that the white on the bricks was part of a normal maturing process and will not be addressed any further at this point.
Wall Flyers: The property team respectfully requests that all parishioners stop placing flyers and pictures on the walls with tape and or tacks. Please contact someone on the property team before placing wall flyers or contact someone of the bulletin board ministry for use of the bulletin boards.
