Choir Annual Report 2017

by Choir Director Michelle Jannakos

After approximately six months of being at St. Luke full time, I am grateful for the time and effort the choir singers and readers have contributed to our liturgical life. Change is never easy and your patience is really appreciated.

As the Kingdom of Heaven is beauty "beyond understanding," we strive to create beauty in our liturgy through music - diction, rhythm, blend, phrasing, tonality and allowing prayer with understanding to be our utmost goal. It is my belief that we should never be satisfied that things are "good enough" but always seek to give our absolute best whenever the Church is concerned. I would like to try to establish a more "concrete" rehearsal schedule, but at the moment, short rehearsals before Saturday vespers and most Sundays during coffee hour are working well. I also hope to do some readers' workshops for existing and prospective church readers.

I have been doing a music session once a month with the church school and have been totally blown away by the amazing talent that our children have!

Please know that EVERYONE is welcome to sing with the choir at any time and/or join our readers' ministry. Perhaps give it a try for a few weeks. If nothing else, it will give you a new appreciation for church musicians! Please know that I am always available to answer any questions or rehearse individually as well. May God help us to grow in His Love for this upbuilding of His Holy Church.
