Choir Annual Report 2015
by Choir Director Paulette Velazquez
We have completed our first cycle of the Orthodox Congregational Singing Hymnal Books. I am very pleased with the results! We will continue in this manner and hold rehearsals only for review of special feast days and for new music that will be introduced.
I spoke with a few parents regarding going Christmas Caroling with our children to our members who are unable to attend services, but it appears many are unavailable that time of year to participate. I will continue to ask.
I would like to obtain an email list of parents of the children in our parish in order to communicate with them regarding music and the church. Many children do not get [enough] musical training in our schools, and as a church we can easily add this to our offerings via a Children’s Choir, a Handbell Choir, Christmas Caroling, and a musical Christmas Program as well as basic music classes for children. (Kinder Musik, Class Piano, Music & Science etc…) I also have the “Learn to Read Music” class for Adults that I started 4 yrs ago but had to end because of my accident. I will reach out to others to see who would be interested in participating.
