Lay Chairperson Report - January 2014

Submitted by George Poulos

January, 2014

Another year has passed and we have achieved many noble and good things. Pads, monthly charitable donations, missionary trips, gifts to DCFS chidden, and other donations when called upon. We are a blessed church filled with giving people, many who give generously of their time and/or money.

We will continue to improve the facilities. Last year we installed an audio visual system to rival anyone’s. Our children and teachers in Sunday School seem to be enjoying this new tool for learning. New icons have been placed on the back walls of the Narthex and we have some more to place soon.

I want to thank you all for you generosity and I hope you all realize the importance of tithing for our future projects, such as the expansion of the Nave. The expansion would of course add some needed room, and would make the facility safer by allowing us to meet building codes. I highly recommend we do the expansion. We met with some banks and contacted the bond company we have used in the past, and determined that the best way to finance the expansion would be by selling bonds again. The bank offers were more expensive and risky because of their demands. The bonds also offer the opportunity for the church members to receive a generous return on their investments.

We recently tried to purchase the land across the street from the church, but after doing a title search, we discovered it belonged to the Forest Preserve District and would be impossible to purchase.
