Youth Organization (YO) Annual Report January 2012

• February was “Youth Month” at St. Luke’s. YO and the Jr. High class were involved in more of the workings of the church. Each week, 2 kids assisted the greeters scheduled, helping them with their tasks. The kids set up for PADS and offer to help the coffee hostesses set up and clean up. They also helped set up and clean up on Feb 27th, after the new member’s luncheon.
• From February – March, YO collected money for most needed items and clothing for St. Innocent Orphanage. Three boxes of items were sent. With the collections that YO obtained, 16 pairs of gym shoes, 10 towels, and 4 giant cans of Nestle Quik (a special treat) was purchased and sent at the end of May, besides what other items were donated by the congregation.
• A few of our YO kids and a few younger ones participated in the Hike for Life held on 5/7/11.
• A YO symposium trip was scheduled Oct 15th to go and listen to Fr. Thomas Hopko speak about Homosexuality and the Orthodox Christian Faith.

Plans for 2012:

• We in desperate need of someone, or a team of people, to take over the planning of social, mission and outreach activities for our Youth. From this year going forward, we have a very good sized group of teens to be able to help them forge friendships and have fellowship with each other as Orthodox Christians, outside of the weekly “church” experience.
