Venturing Report Annual Meeting 2015

Prepared by Sue Lisowski

I have decided not to recharter the venturing crew with the Boy Scouts of America. There does not seem to be any interest from our families and it requires adult volunteers, who would be required to complete training in order for us to be an official BSA unit. I will still gladly assist any scouts in our parish who would like to pursue the religious awards through the Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting.

I would like to transition the Scouting ministry into one serving as liaison for our college students. I feel it is important to keep in touch with them so they feel connected and part of our parish even if they live away at school. I would like to send cards occasionally, and a care package during finals to the students. I would find other ways to help them stay connected to their home parish, so they do not fall away from the church as so many do as young adults. I will also collect their addresses at school and work with the Orthodox Christian Fellowship to help them contact our students through the OCF's "first forty days" welcome program. I need the help of parents; please supply me with the address of your student.
