Venturing Report Annual Meeting 2012

Prepared by Sue Lisowski

In the past year, the members of the Venturing crew helped with fund raising for the Missions team. They sponsored a Valentine’s Day bake sale fundraiser; decorating the room, and donating and selling treats during coffee fellowship. The theme was ?Have a Heart for Missions.? Several of the crew members served on mission trips this summer as well. They also helped the St Luke PADS food team to serve dinner and make lunches for the homeless, when there was a 5th Monday in the month, and they also have volunteered for additional shifts. Some also were present for the annual Patriot’s Day memorial on September 11.

A couple of training sessions have been held in the church building this year for Scouts in the local district, including training for Eagle Scout candidates, and an Emergency Preparedness meet in November, where they learned and demonstrated skills for safety and survival, including how to prepare for and prevent emergency situations.

The biggest challenge for this ministry continues to be the limited availability of the teens to participate in Venturing events, due to their busy schedules, as well as a need for parents willing to help with leadership. Scout Sunday is February 5th of 2012.
