Sanctity Of Life Report Annual Meeting January 2011
By Mary Jo Werbiansky
January – For the celebration of Sanctity of Life Sunday, Fr. Andrew presented an Icon of the Visitation of Mary to Elizabeth given to St. Luke by Frederica Matthews Green. The Icon shows Christ in Mary's womb blessing St. John the Baptist. Suzy Bozman, a new mom and member of St. Luke, spoke of her experience with doctors who recommended she have an abortion because one of her twins had spina bifida. She and husband, John, shared their personal story and their beautiful children with us as an example of the precious sanctity of life.
May-December – This year an attempt was made to collect diapers beginning in May for Mother's Day and continuing throughout the year. This did not net a larger collection.
October -Parishioners were invited to join other churches in the Life Chain on LaGrange Road in early October. Several parishioners joined this effort standing in silent and prayerful witness alongside hundreds of others. Later in October St. Luke parish hosted a table at the PASS Life Banquet. A donation was made and the opportunity to become an ongoing support was offered. Thanks to those who participated.
December - The annual Giving Tree collection was held. Families placed new items for babies around our Christmas tree. Those items were delivered to PASS.
Plans for 2012
