Prayer Ministry Annual Report January 2011
Prepared by Mary Kincaid
St. Luke's prayer group has been praying together for those in need for almost fourteen years. The prayer requests are given to me and I send out the list of names on Friday evenings by email and also put copies on the wall in the narthex. Then on Saturday after our vesper service, we mention every name on the list with our "Intercessory Prayers" as we light a candle. Then the seven day candle is placed in front of our cross outside. Fr. Andrew then mentions all the names during Divine Liturgy. Everyone involved prays on their own for at least two weeks. Of course, without me having to list them, there are those who need prayers for longer than two weeks. I also send names to St. Tikhons for prayers throughout the year. Cards are available in the narthex which can be sent to let someone know prayers are being said for them for all occasions. Hopefully the privilege of praying for others we help strengthen our own prayer life. As written in 1 Timothy 2:1 - Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercession, and giving of thanks be made for all men.
