Maintenance Ministry Report Annual Meeting January 2015

Submitted by Nick Lisowski

Our primary focus this year was on maintenance issues. Nick is in charge of hiring the lawn maintenance service and the snow removal service. Dennis is in charge of the sprinkler system including start up, shut down, and maintenance. Currently we are trying out a new snow removal service. They have been told to treat the church like a residence and keep the stairs and walks clean and salted as well as the parking lot. We are also looking into getting a different lawn service in the spring.

Father Andrew obtained the services of an electrician and had new lights installed in the old basement. Also he changed the exit sign by the front door to also have emergency lighting to comply with the building inspection. Also he fixed some of the broken exit signs and replaced the batteries as needed.

The door stop on the front door was broken. Nick repaired this, but it may need to re replaced in the future.

A window in the toddler classroom developed a stress fracture. Dennis had the window replaced. The dead bolt on the external door leading to the old basement broke and was replaced by Nick. The entire door will need to be replaced soon, but this is one of the projects that needs to wait until the addition is completed.

The front doors and the prayer shrine both needed to be re-stained and resealed. Dennis was in charge of both of these projects.

The upstairs heating unit stopped working and was repaired by Nick. One of the sprinkler heads was damaged during last years snow plowing. Dennis had this replaced. The light fixture in the church in front of the glass doors had a broken socket. Mike Kincaid fixed this for us.

The glass on the front church sign has been yellowed as a result of the well water from the sprinklers hitting it. It was scratched in an attempt to clean it. Father Andrew had the glass replaced. Dennis also had the sprinklers reset so they do not spray the sign any longer.

Pat Dravillas purchased an industrial quality vacuum for the parish.

About half of the bushes around the large cross in the front of the building have died, Dennis will be having these replaced in the spring.

We had a problem with mold growing in the basement. To correct this we had all the chairs and floors cleaned and scrubbed. A company came in and cleaned and removed mold from any and all walls and area where it started in both basements. Heavy duty dehumidifiers were purchased and installed in both basements. These are to run constantly and the furnace fans are to be run constantly as well to keep the air circulating. The problem has been corrected and eliminated.

In the past we have had problems with the toilet in the fellowship hall and PADS usage. I am happy to report that so far this year we have had no problems.
