Kitchen Ministry Annual Report January 2005
Prepared by Peter Zekios
This past year the Kitchen Ministry made a concerted effort to make the
kitchen facility more efficient. Improvements were made to the kitchen counter by adding
new hardware; thus, beautifying the front area of the kitchen. Shelving was installed for
additional storage area. Pat Dravillas and Carla Stevens organized the cabinets, shelves,
and pantry. They also labeled these areas so that all the coffee hostesses knew exactly
where to find supplies. Carla has been returning each Wednesday to spot check the kitchen
and hall. She makes sure all items in the refrigerator and storage areas are returned to
their proper places after use each Sunday. Of course, the job is much easier when coffee
hostesses have followed directions in cleaning after serving. Carla also puts tables and
chairs back in their proper places. So remember that if you move anything in these areas,
please put them back as you found them. This would really be appreciated. You probably
noticed that new table cloths were purchased. I'd like to thank the anonymous donor for
this lovely enhancement that was needed so badly. The decorations that Carla adds each
season are the perfect touch!
The Kitchen Ministry recently purchased a new 60 cup percolator to
accommodate a demand for more coffee. All the St. Luke coffee drinkers are now happy
again---even a second cup is possible at times. The Kitchen Ministry also hosted a very
successful New Year's Eve Gala, 2004. A special thanks is extended to Luba & Robert
Johnson for all their help in preparing last year's New Year Eve's banquet.
The coming year hopefully we will be able to purchase new tables and
chairs, add a new counter top with cabinets with a back counter on the left side, corner,
of the kitchen. This will alleviate the congestion presently in front of the kitchen. A
disco ball in the hall can be discussed. Revenue producing ideas will be discussed with
the team.
The Kitchen Ministry is blessed to have an exceptional staff. Pat &
Carla continue to work above and beyond the call of duty. All of us at St. Luke's would
like thank Pat & Carla for their continuous hard work ----52 weeks of the year.
Respectfully submitted, Peter Zekios
