Fellowship Annual Report January 2011
Special Events – Nadia Doss
Our special events are supported by the entire Community Development Team. We provide activities, decorations, and refreshments for many events each year. The following are some of the major events which we hosted in 2010.
New Member Luncheon
Our New Member Luncheon was held on February 14th. New parish members were honored after Liturgy and were treated afterwards to a brunch. The entire parish was invited to participate. Donations received for the Brunch, were put toward the monthly Charity Collection – Project Mexico.
Pascha
Our Pascha feast in the early morning hours of Sunday April 4th followed the Resurrection Service and was very well attended.
Parish members supplied a variety of delicious foods to help break our fast. After weeks of fasting, we enjoyed the many and varied ethnic entries brought to share – including the American ethnic tradition of “sliders”.
Proto Deacon Andrew’s 25th Anniversary
On June 20th, over 100 people gathered together
to celebrate Father’s Day and the 25th anniversary
of Deacon Andrew’s ordination.
We enjoyed a delicious meal catered by Polonia Catering. The entertainment committee, headed
by Chuck Bern, roasted Andrew with a slide show going back to his early years.
It was a beautiful day!
Celebration of Father Danial’s Ordination
On Sunday, July 11th, St. Luke proudly celebrated Father Danial’s
ordination to the Hold Priesthood. Liturgy was concelebrated by
Father Andrew and Father Danial.
On behalf of the parishioners of St. Luke, Father Andrew presented
Fr. Danial with a hospital visitation kit. All prayed he will have
Many Years of fruitful ministry. After Liturgy, a luncheon was held
in his honor.
Quad-Parish Picnic – Luba Johnson, Event Chairperson
Our 10th Annual Quad-Parish Picnic took place successfully on September 12th.
Approximately 185 people were present during the later part of Liturgy. It is estimated about 150 stayed for lunch.
St. Luke's attendance at this picnic is estimated to be about 85. Our attendance and reservations were down from previous years, and it is believed to be a result of the change in date of the picnic. After reconciling the income and expenses for the picnic, each church was refunded $171.52. Next year’s picnic is scheduled for June 5th. We hope to see you all there!
St. Luke Feast Day and Oktoberfest –
Hosted by Luba Johnson
Our Feast Day was concelebrated by Father Andrew and Father Myron of St. Panteleimon.
Oktoberfest was a huge success.
As always, the food from Polonia was delicious. In addition to our St Luke members, friends from St. Peter and Paul, Archangel Michael, and St Panteleimon attended. Donations for the event totaled $673.
Christmas Eve Supper – Hosted by Mary Jo Werbiansky
At our traditional Christmas Eve supper, the table was set for the Holy Supper Ritual. The meal preceded the Nativity vigil and commemorated the Old Covenant which ends with the birth of Jesus.
Unleavened bread was broken and eaten with wine. Also garlic and twelve fasting foods (no meat or dairy) were served.
