Evangelist Report Annual Meeting January 2014
Submitted by Caroline Potter
The St. Luke the Evangelist Orthodox parish newsletter, The Evangelist, is published quarterly and mailed to parishioners, friends, visitors and other who have expressed an interest in our parish. The guiding mission of The Evangelist is to promote our church as a lively, positive, and thoughtful spiritual community and to spread the word of God. Each newsletter contains articles written by members of the parish providing both general and specific information about St. Luke, news about Orthodox-related activities, inspiration for spiritual development, ideas for more effective Christian living, and encouragement for outreach to both Orthodox and non-Orthodox readers.
Each issue is dedicated to a specific theme. The Spring issue featured articles illustrating in-depth stories of some of our parishioners’ journey to Orthodoxy. The Summer issue detailed various experiences during our mission trips to Alaska and New Mexico. The Winter issue will focus on experiences with our PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) program. The Evangelist often has an update produced by Else Tennessen on the School of the Seventy or a book review. In addition, Fr. Andrew’s column, “Father’s Corner,” appears regularly in The Evangelist.
Besides distribution to parishioners, St. Luke's friends and our website, a full-color copy of each issue is included in the historical record of our parish. Anyone interested in contributing articles for The Evangelist on any topic should contact Caroline Potter at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I would like to thank St. Luke's parishioners for contributing articles to the Evangelist and for spreading the word of God to over 250 households.
