Evangelist Report Annual Meeting January 2011

Submitted by Caroline Potter

The Evangelist is our St. Luke's outreach newsletter. Published quarterly, it is printed and mailed to parishioners, friends, visitors and other who have expressed an interest in our parish. The guiding mission of The Evangelist is to promote our church as a lively, positive, and thoughtful spiritual community. Each newsletter contains articles written by members of the parish providing both general and specific information about St. Luke’s, news about Orthodox-related activities, inspiration for spiritual development, ideas for more effective Christian living, and encouragement for outreach to both Orthodox and non-Orthodox readers.

We had another successful year with the Evangelist publishing four quarterly issues for Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter 2010. During the Spring quarter, the Evangelist showcased articles about Lent. The Summer issue of the Evangelist spoke about Tolerance in the Christian faith. With the Fall issue, we asked members of the St. Luke parish to write articles about their experience with Project Mexico and how it affected their spiritual lives. The Winter 2010 issue will illustrate the importance of Confession in our Christian faith.

I would like to thank St. Luke's parishioners for contributing articles to the Evangelist and for spreading the word of God to over 250 households.
