Evangelist Report Annual Meeting January 2010
Submitted by Diane Wilczak
The Evangelist is our St. Luke outreach newsletter. Published quarterly, it is printed and mailed to 250 parishioners, friends, visitors and others who have expressed an interest in our parish. A color copy of each issue becomes part of our ongoing church history with an electronic version uploaded to our website so as to reach a wider audience. The guiding mission of The Evangelist is to promote our church as a lively, positive, and thoughtful spiritual community. We strive to inform and communicate information about our church and related activities with themes that are both interesting and current, providing a unified purpose for each issue. Each newsletter contains articles written by members of the parish providing both general and specific information about St. Luke, news about Orthodox-related activities, inspiration for spiritual development, ideas for more effective Christian living, and encouragement for outreach to both Orthodox and non-Orthodox readers. Past themes have dealt with St. Luke's School of the Seventy, Orthodox Missionaries, Science and Religion, Prayer, the Old Testament, and Orthodox Unity. We welcome new writers to contribute their opinions and views. Themes for next year will include religious tolerance, technology and St. Luke ministries. Cutoff dates for 2010 issues are: Spring issue – March 19th; Summer issue – June 18th; Fall issue – September 17th; and Winter issue – December 3rd.
