Evangelist Report Annual Meeting January 2008
The St. Luke parish newsletter, The Evangelist, is published quarterly as
Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall issues. Each issue is dedicated to a specific theme. The 2007
themes included Forgiveness, Family History, Pascha Traditions, and Things That Make Us Smile.
Articles are written by parishioners to provide information about parish and personal
church-associated activities, as well as other Orthodox-related topics and events. In addition, Fr.
Andrew’s column, “Father’s Corner,” appears regularly in The Evangelist. Besides distribution to
parishioners, St. Luke friends, and our website, a full-color copy of each issue is included in
the historical record of our parish.
In 2007 a new feature, called “Focus on Ministry,” was added. This provides an
opportunity for parishioners to describe the personal ministries in which they are involved.
Articles by Church School students also began to appear in The Evangelist this year. In 2008
Diane hopes to work closely with Church School teachers to promote more frequent article-writing
by Church School students. New for 2008 is a regular column, “Orthodox Online,” written by Else
Tennesen. She will discuss safe and informative internet sites that deal with issues affecting
Orthodox Christians. Anyone interested in contributing articles for The Evangelist on any topic
should contact Diane at DWilczak@ameritech.net
