The Evangelist Annual Report January 2003
By Pearl Homiak
The Evangelist is our outreach newsletter. The audience includes
parishioners of St. Luke Orthodox Church, other Orthodox Christians, and
non-Orthodox people that are interested in St. Luke parish. It is the intent of the
editor of The Evangelist to provide both general and specific information
about St. Luke parish, news about Orthodox-related activities, inspiration for
the spiritual development of The Evangelist's readers, ideas for more
effective Christian living, and encouragement for personal outreach to both
lapsed Orthodox and non-Orthodox people.
Four issues of The Evangelist were published during 2002: Winter,
Spring, Summer, and Fall. Each issue had eight pages of writing and pictures
with captions. Parishioners of St. Luke submitted articles and article
ideas. Pictures were obtained from our website. The Fall issue of The
Evangelist was prepared for both hard-copy and email distribution.
Goals for 2003:
The Evangelist will continue to be published four times per year.
Email editions will be improved so they are easier to read. Readers
will continually be encouraged to receive their newsletter by email. There
are several advantages to this: email recipients get The Evangelist first,
pictures and textual enhancements in the email copy of The Evangelist
are in color, more people (friends, relatives, etc.) can receive The
Evangelist, money is saved on printing and postage. A reader's survey will be taken to
determine reader's needs and expectations regarding The Evangelist.
