Church Resource Center (CRC) Annual Report January 2005
Prepared by Dn. Danial Doss
It has been another blessed year for the bookstore. We had more books,
icons, cassettes, and videos than we ever had before. More and more parishioners are also
using the bookstore for their spiritual needs.
Accomplishments:
1. Continued and added new church accounts with several Christian organizations.
St. Isaac of Syria Skete, Wisconsin - Byzantine Icons
Conciliar Press, Ben Lomond, California
Light and Life Publishing Company, Minneapolis, Minnesota
Regina Orthodox Press
Dormition Romanian Monastery (we get most of the icons from them)
2. A receptacle for book/icon purchases was installed in the CRC area
so that people can deposit payments.
3. A list of suggestions was distributed for:
Lenten Readings,
"Those Who Hurt." and "Other Helpful Books for Everyday Living",
Christmas gifts.
4. Five hundred dollars ($500) from CRC sales was donated for the new altar boy robes.
Plans for 2005:To continue adding new books to the bookstore
To purchase more shelves from IKEA for books, icons, and video display.
To continue preparing a list of suggested books for different occasions
Lending Library Recap
In February, Lydia Christensen tackled the monumental task of organizing
the lending library. Many books were donated and she started to sort books by category.
She also had to establish a system in her computer to catalog the books. (Her computer has
no always been cooperative.) This is a tough job because she must know the content of the
books. Quite often, if there is no summary, she reads the book first so she can properly
catalog it. Books had to be stamped and identified.
So at this point, we can say that the library is moving ahead. We are
grateful for Lydia's dedication to this time-consuming effort. If you are interested in a
specific topic, please tell Lydia. If there is no book on it, she will order it through
the bookstore.
