Director of Christian Education Report Annual Meeting January 2016

Maria Kopulos

Enrollment: Currently (2015/16) we have 53 students enrolled, which is down from 66 (2013/14) last school year. On an average Sunday our entire school attendance is 30, a little more than half. Our staff members are: Toddlers/Christine Bishoff & Alayna Jarotkiewicz – Preschool & Kindergarten/Suzanne Kopulos & Madeline Betsanes – Grades 1 & 2 / Cheryl Evangelopoulos & Lynn Betsanes, – Grade 3 / Maria Kopulos & Adolph Galinski, – Grades 4, 5&6/ Angela Tatooles & Diane Nickolaou, - Grades 7 & 8 (Junior High) /Aristea Zekios, - High School - Rick Wolf

Since we have been blessed with such wonderful classrooms, which we have worked diligently on over the past decade, the next decade will have a new focus. I am excited that the combination of the “Strategic Planning” survey results, along with the strong background of our educators at St. Luke, mean we are able to focus attention on 1) continuing to deliver education in the most modern way we can, so that our children receive solid messages weekly on their faith, 2) teachers continue to enjoy the beauty of this mission and share their talents with others around them (children and parents alike), 3) growing our church school to a better weekly attendance and overall registration, 4) attract and encourage other parents to teach, in order keep this program solid in education and direction, 5) build a better program for our High School children (as well as college aged), and 6) seek a youth director to coordinate social activities. We have the tools, now we just need to focus on the next 5- and 10-year plan so we can continue to sow the seeds the Lord has given us.

Concerns for near future for us:
1) We do have quite a few teachers that will be up for retirement soon, so one of our largest necessities will be to find 2-4 willing to follow in their footsteps.
2) Making sure our budget fits our shoes.

Let us not forget, that these wonderful teachers take out time to plan and teach every Sunday. We have a phenomenal bunch of men and women, and I would like to extend my deepest love for them, as they do an exquisite job, and make my life one hundred times richer, due to their works.

Thank you and May God Continue to Bless us.
