Blood Donation Report Annual Meeting 2017

Prepared by Sue Lisowski

Our annual blood drive program took place on Sunday, July 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with 20 individuals who showed up to donate. There were 16 successful blood draws, and 4 deferred due to medical challenges that day. We fell short of our goal of 20 units, but 16 is still life-saving! Thank you to all who volunteered to give blood or help with the event. Heartland had a staff of 6 and we also had 5 guests who came to donate that day. There is a probability that, because our numbers have decreased over the years, Heartland will send a mobile blood drive unit [a coach bus in the parking lot] next year, which would make it easier on us, because set-up/take-down of the basement fellowship hall is not needed. Heartland’s guidelines say we need to consistently get 20 donations in order to have an indoor event. Thanks to some of our mission team members who helped with moving tables/chairs, setting up and clean up for coffee session. The date for 2017’s blood drive has not been set, but we typically try to get a July date, so that it can be part of our preparation for the Dormition fast, and an event to look forward to in the summer, when church attendance tends to be lower.
