Blood Donation Report Annual Meeting 2015

Prepared by Sue Lisowski

Our annual drive was on Sunday, July 20th, 2014. The Heartland Blood Center sent a mobile collection unit with six staff members and 4 beds. The drive was also open to the public, so visitors were welcome to walk-in between 10:30 and 1:30 as well. The 2014 blood drive was a success--we surpassed our goal of 17, with a total of 21 units of blood collected. We even had two people give a double donation! All donors received a gift card from Subway as a thank you for donating.

Heartland brought juice and cookies, and we supplied sandwiches, pastries, fruit, coffee and other refreshments, so donors could recuperate before going about the rest of their day. We had two boy scouts volunteer to help with running the drive and cleaning up, and they also came the day before to set up the room and move all the tables and chairs to clear the space and then return the room to normal. This was about 7 service hours for each of them. I estimate that including the staff, we had about 12 visitors come to the church as a result of the blood drive.
