Adoption Ministry Annual Report January 2008
Prepared By Michaelyn Sloan
St. Luke's hosted a February informational meeting and a May afternoon workshop
for the Bridge of Hope for Russian Children Program. Facilitated by St. Mary's Services at
which Michaelyn Sloan is Director of International Adoptions, the program brings Russian
ophans into Midwest families for five weeks each summer. The majority of these children are
later adopted by their host families. Assisting with this program for the second year in a row
were Julia Wojcik and Lana Lynch who provided translation for host families and children. Former
parishioners Fr.Alexander Lukashonak and his wife Oksana also assisted while the children were here,
with Oksana chaperoning the children back to New York for their flight onto Russia at the program's
close.
One of St. Luke's families is currently working with me on an adoption.
