Education Team Leader - Maria Kopulos
present.

Stea has given Maria a report. The Church school trying to schedule a Lenten retreat. There will be a YO retreat on 4/8. The theme will be the entrance of Jesus at Passover in Jerusalem. YO will make food to be sold with the proceeds to go to charity.

Jim is dealing with the issue of transferring the keys after the elections.

Maintenance Report

Nick has shored up the basement walls as soon as the new insulation is placed, we will get the dry wall finished.

Pending Projects

  1. Plaster is coming off the wall on the way up the choir next to the window due to an old leak. We need to fix this.
  2. Waterproofing stone above the front door. Waiting for information from George Evangelopoulos.
  3. The area of dead grass by the brick garden needs to be replaced when the weather improves.
  4. Finish repairing the Air Conditioning unit for the new basement. Nick got it running again but it needs a sensor to be replaced.
  5. Missing baseboard in the fellowship hall needs to be replaced.
  6. Broken window in classroom: We have acquired the replacement window at no cost. Steve is contacting someone to install the replacement

New Building Report

Septic system has a broken pump and we will get it replaced at a cost in the 300 to 400 dollar area.

Team Projects

  • Lawn Repair: Mary Kincaid has spoken to the landscapers and according to them the dead grass will not come back. We will reevaluate this in the spring.
  • Choir Room: The natural brick wall still needs to be trimmed and the wall cleaned or painted. This is pending.
  • Broken water fountain: Pending.
  • Church sidewalk: We are in the process of getting new bids for this project.
  • Office Heater/Ac unit: Pending
  • Parking lot: Nothing new to report.
  • Old Basement remodel: Once Nick is finished with the insulation, the dry wall will be completed. We will then paint this ourselves and then the floor and trim will be finished professionally. We are getting two additional bids for this as the first way too high.

Additions:

Sump septic field went out- we tried to get it repaired, but will need a new pump. Will look for a contractor for the sidewalk in the spring.

A new members brunch is planned for 3/5/06. Cost will be 6 dollars for adults and 3 dollars for kids. The Sunday school kids will be dismissed with their teachers for a 30 minute lessons after which, the children will join the congregation for lunch.. The Pre-sanctified services will be on the church calendar. The church picnic- will be on 6/4 at Crooked Creek grove 2. A Push for selling bricks upcoming this spring. Luba asked for a copy of the budget- with category lines. Father responded that money collected goes into the general fund. If a ministry needs money, they come to the council with a request.

  • Choir, Maria Vrame - I am not planning anything different for Lent, we are just beginning to review the new music we instituted last year (the antiphons in the Byzantine Mode Tone 5) This takes a while to learn well.
  • Vestments, Helen Partoll - I will be putting on the purple altar vestments on March 5. Altar boy robes are almost finished. They need to be cleaned.

  • Letter of Parish Council approval
  • Copy of a letter sent to the Holy Synod about OCA financial discrepancies
  • Sample Letter from St, Peter and Paul in Dayton Ohio

Additions

Father also went to a funeral last month. The Baptist Church visit was memorable.

Letters:

  • A letter to the Bishop about new council members.
  • A letter to Herman - from OCA priests in support of Arch Bishop Job about investigating church expenditures and urging an audit. Also presented a sample letter that could be sent to Job supporting him in his efforts to investigate OCA finances. Caye, Ken, Father Andres and Debra. will compose a letter showing our support to Job.

Bob made a motion to accept the reports as presented. Pearl 2nd. All agreed.


Old Business

Charities Approval

Bob motioned OCMC be the charity for March Caye 2nd all approved- Last months’ charity collection was for the poor.

Computer

Father received a 1000 dollar gift-which could be used for a new PC. Father Andrew will talk to Stea and Mike about what he may need. Mike reported that he will purchase a suitable computer from Dell and submit the bill.


New Business

Natural Parish growth

Ken reported that we should consider attending the natural parish growth program for $2500 as this program is tailored to Orthodoxy. Ken will send information to council members- Father would like this to be passed - as we need to get information on how to keep growing. Luba asked how is this program is different from the 5 year strategic plan we had. Pearl reported that you have a church team they develop a plan- with guidance for a year. The plan is developed with the aide of a scoring program that identifies specific parish needs. Ken reiterated that the $2500 pays for one year’s guidance. Ken asked if there was another parish who had participated in this program we could talk to. Father said there was one in Indiana. Father reported that we need to stimulate the parish. Lee would like to get a report from the other parishes involved in this process. Ken agreed.. Pearl responded that she would get in-put from other parishes. Maria made a motion to get more information on Natural Parish Growth. Bob 2nd. All approved

Online store

Mike had to buy supplies- for Deacon Danial’s store-he asked if he should pay it out of the scrip/Paypal account . Bob agreed- Bob motioned that monies from Paypal go into the building fund Ken 2nd all greed. Mike handed out information on how to update web site on personal information of council members.

The minutes for annual meeting need to be sent to Father so he can submit them to the Discese.
