The Icon

A very expressive Russian icon fron the 18th century. Since the 20th century, this Christ representation is well known, but it was already to be found in Russia in the 14th century. With stern, penetrating eyes, Christ looks at the beholder who can not escape his look. The believers of the Eastern Church sometimes call this icon "Christ with the sharp look.
