Annual Blood Drive Held
The Heartland Blood Center sent a mobile collection unit for the blood drive on Sunday, July 20th, 2014. Six staff members came in the van and set up the room, so that people could donate blood after the church services. The drive was also open to the public, so visitors were welcome to walk-in between 10:30 and 1:30 as well. The 2014 blood drive was a success-- we met our goal with a total of 21 units of blood collected.
Blood donors check in, show a photo ID, and answer a few simple questions about medical history and travel outside the US. All donors received a gift card from Subway as a thank you for donating.
Blood donors relax and chat together with each other and the staff as their donation is collected. We even had two people give a double donation!
After donating, the volunteers sat for a while and enjoyed sandwiches, pastries, fruit, juice, coffee and other refreshments, before going about the rest of their day.
Garden Center Visit For July
Fr. Andrew started our visit with the story of Noah's Ark. God said that the world has grown wicked, so He was going to cause a flood to cover the land and destroy every living thing that He made. However, the Lord love Noah, a good man and told him to build a ark big enough for him, his family and two of every kind of creature. Noah did exactly as God had told him and when he was done, it rained for 40 days and 40 nights.

Fr. Andrew held a cup that contained a plant that was dying. He said just like the plant needs nutrients to grow, we Christians need prayer, church services and communion to grow closer to God.
