Food For The Christian Soul Ministry Visits The Jerusalem Cafe

This Sunday the Food For The Christian Soul Ministry Visited The Jerusalem Cafe in Oak Park, Illinois.

This was out first stop on our food “pilgrimage”. The intent is to “dine out” using the spread of Christianity as our “palate GPS”. We will, in fact, be eating foods that are symbolic of the nations that Christianity was spread too. Based on this concept, the first dining experience of this group was Jerusalem as it marks the death and resurrection of Christ. Fr. Andrew described his experiences in Jerusalem. Our next country will be Ethiopia commemorating the conversion of the Ethiopian eunuch by Deacon Phillip.

Happy Father's Day

After Liturgy today our fathers were presented with the gift of a key chain with a cross. We at St. Luke Parish would like to extend a Happy Father's Day wish to all Fathers everywhere and thank them for all that they have done.

Hike For Life

Fr. Andrew was the only one from St. Luke who participated in the Hike for Life sponsored by PASS: Pregnancy Assistance South Suburban. Instead of hiking Father rode his bike.

This is the half way point on the hike. Father Andrew continued past this point for 10 miles. If anyone would like to sponsor his effort, donations can be given to PASS through St. Luke web site Pay Pal.

Annual Quad Parish Picnic

After 12 years of Quad Parish Picnics, this is the only one that was rained out. Fr. Andrew had to be shown the mud before he was convinced. The Liturgy and Picnic were held at St. Luke.

As has been the case for the past 12 years, John Sutko from St. Peter and Paul directed the combined choirs of the four parishes.

Announcements were given about upcoming parish events at the end of the Liturgy. Pictured are Deacon John, Fr. Andrew, Fr. Gregory and Fr. Myron.

Luba announces that the dinner is served. Luba has been committee chairperson since the Picnic was conceived by the late Archbishop Job. May his memory be eternal.

The rectors of all four parishes St. Michael, St. Luke, St. Panteleimon, and SS. Peter and Paul load their plates with the delicious food.. Even though it was rained out this year, it is hoped that the picnic will be held again next year. It is a rare opportunity for members of four parishes to work together on a project.
