Lesser Blessing Of Water and Akathist Service

The beginning of the Dormition Fast was celebrated with the Akathist to the Blessed Virgin and the blessing of water. This holiday commemorates the day when the Holy Cross was brought to Constantinople. It is called the Procession of the Honorable Wood of the Lifegiving Cross of the Lord.

The cross was immersed three times in the water that came from St. Luke's well while those who attended sang "O Lord save your people and bless your inheritance........"

The cross was returned to Fr. Andrew by his granddaughter Kyra.

Pads Recognition

This Sunday following Liturgy, Tom Kozbiel was recognized for all his work for the Pads Homeless Program. He was presented with an icon. Thanks go out to Tom for all his hard work and "God Grant Him Many Years".

This week following Liturgy we celebrated Luba and Robert's 40th Wedding Anniversary. "God Grant Them Many Years."

Fr. Andrew told the story of Thomas Aquinas, who was an Italian and Dominican priest of the Roman Catholic Church. He is considered one of the greatest and influential theologian of all time and the patron of all universities and of students. One of his most famous writing was, "Summa theological" and is thought of as "The Angel of the Schools".

Fr. Andrew explained how a life jacket can save someones life in the water. He also said how Jesus was the disciples' life saver when a great windstorm arose and their boat was filling with water. Jesus rebuked the wind and said to the sea, "Peace, be still". And with that the wind ceased and there was a great calm.

Fr. Andrew passed out candy life savers to everyone.

Celebration was complete with Aristea's gourmet cupcakes. It's been a wonderful twelve years.

Fr. Andrew showed the children a life jacket and explained how it can save someones life in the water. He the told the story about how Jesus saved his disciples' life when a great windstorm arose and their boat was filling with water and sinking. Jesus rebuked the wind and said to the sea, "Peace, be still".

Jesus is God because he can control the weather with his word. Fr. Andrew then gave out Life Saver candy to all the children.
