St. Luke Parish Celebrates Olympians

This Sunday we recognized our ministry leader Chuck and all our olympians. We had 39 competitors, largest in St. Luke history with the event. Of our relatively small contingent we brought home 6 medals, 3 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze:
Emma -Bronze for Shot Put Throw,
Emily-Silver for 800-Meter Run
Erin-Gold for 10K Run
Angela-Gold for 10K Run
James-Gold for Chess
Michael-Silver for Chess

Annual Quad Parish Picnic

Luba the chairperson of the picnic, welcomed our new Bishop Matthias with the traditional offering of bread and salt. The bishop gave his blessing and then he blessed the clergy of the four parishes who would be concelebrating the Divine Liturgy together.

Fr. Myron of St. Pantelaimon's and Fr. Andrew of St. Luke greeted His Grace and all processed to the pavilion in the Cook County Forest Preserve. Cook County has set aside thousands of acres within the city of Chigago and suburbs for natural preservation and public use. Any use requires license fees and strict regulations.

Bishop Matthias give the final blessing at the conclusion of the Liturgy. Deacon Andrew entoned the memory eternal for our former Bishop Job who establish this annual event which has taken place for 11 years.

The Picnic committee with His Grace Matthias and Fr. Andrew. The committee under the leadership of Luba met 5 times during the year. They will meet in July to discuss any problems which need to be corrected and begin planning for next years picnic. We wish them all Many Years!
